She changed herself
Till she could not recognise
The person in the mirror;
A stranger staring back.
All her clothes hung
From her body.
Her cheeks sunken in,
Hollowed out
And overcast.
She changed herself;
Cause she was never enough;
Just the way she was.
The comments and jabs
Thrown carelessly
Pierced her wounded soul.
So she vowed,
That she would become
Everything they wanted her to be.
But what she didn't know
That she would
Always and forever
Be enough;
Just how she was.

First and foremost I want to wish all of you a very happy new year! I hope this year you find the best version of yourself and heal from all things left unsaid. I love all of you so much <3
The above poem, I know is pretty short and I apologise for that. This was a piece i wrote a few months back and it hasn't been put up on Instagram yet.
Eating Disorders affect almost 9% of the worldwide population. It is also found that about 4% of the Indian population. To many people eating disorders or ED do not make the list of mental illnesses, but the latest versions of ICD and even the DSM section them under mental illnesses. It is time that we recognise symptoms of disordered eating. Another stigma is that EDs only affect the female population but again this is not true. Any person is equally likely to be affected by it.
Often we make comments about someone's weight and appearances without even thinking of what consequences it might have. One seemingly harmless comment may drive them to perform extreme behaviours which may be life threatening.

This poem is dedicated to all the people going through EDs. You are so strong. I'm sorry you had to go through the pain of not feeling enough, but I want you to know that you're really brave and will always be enough to the right people. I see you and I hope you heal. Lots of love and strength to you <3
Until next time!
